New Church Moves in to Old Shoe Factory Building
The Refuge Youth and Worship Center has opened its doors at 919 W. Liberty Street in Mexico, Missouri. Refuge offers a family-oriented Saturday evening church service (6pm) with modern music, relaxed atmosphere, and relevant, Bible-based discussions.
On Wednesdays, the Youth Center is open at 3:30pm for students, 6th-12 grade, to come hang-out, study, shoot hoops or play video games. Food is grilled up at 6pm, and Youth Worship/Devotion begins at 6:59pm.
Why Saturday evening church in Mexico, MO? According to Matthew Penn, Refuge comes from a desire to provide a real and relevant 'church' experience for students and families. "We've stripped out many of the preconceieved notions that people have about church and just focus on some really basic things -- worshipping God, helping each other understand the Bible, and providing a positive atmosphere for students in the city."
